What this site is
Budget & Savings is a consumer financial-education platform with one governing idea: someone with $14 in their bank account should find it as useful as someone with $50,000. The whole site walks one progression — Survive → Stabilize → Save → Owe Less → Build → Invest — and meets you wherever on it you happen to stand today, without judgment, jargon, or pretending your situation is anyone's fault.
What we believe
- Practical beats theoretical. Real dollar examples, working calculators, official links — not abstract finance theory.
- Help exists and using it is strategy. Assistance programs are infrastructure your taxes built. Our Starting From $0 section treats them that way.
- No shame, ever. Money trouble is a situation, not a character flaw. Every page here is written accordingly.
- Education, not advice. We teach how things work and show the math. We never tell you what to buy, sell, or invest in.
- Honesty over polish. Real news only, sourced figures only, Last Reviewed dates on anything that can go stale, and predatory products described as exactly what they are.
What lives here
Seventeen calculators and three interactive experiences; deep sections on budgeting, saving, debt, assistance and income; a fifteen-lesson money-skills course; a link-checked directory of official resources; real news from named publishers; and AI tools that answer only from this site's own vetted material.
The fine print, honestly
How content is produced and reviewed lives on the Editorial Policy page; what the math assumes on Methodology; every source on Data Sources. Questions, corrections and broken links: Contact.
