A budget is only this: what comes in this month set against what goes out. The total at the bottom matters less than the shape above it, because almost nobody is surprised by every category at once. Usually one line is much bigger than it felt.

Fill it in from last month's bank and card statements rather than from memory. Memory reliably under-counts the small, frequent things and over-counts the big, rare ones.
