The hybrid worth knowing: list locally at a slight premium AND nationally simultaneously, kill the slower listing when one bites. And electronics always wiped to factory settings before photos; accounts left logged in scare buyers, and they should.

How do I spot the overpayment scam before it costs me?

The shape never changes: 'buyer' sends more than the price (a check, a fake payment screenshot, a 'shipping agent' story) and asks you to refund the difference or hand the item before funds truly clear. Banks can bounce checks WEEKS after making funds provisionally available, so the refund you send is real money and the payment never was. Ironclad rules: cash or instant bank transfer (verified in YOUR app, not their screenshot), never accept overpayment for any reason, meet in daylight at a public spot (police-station exchange zones exist for this), and let any deal that adds complexity die. Legitimate buyers are boring.
